Hi, I'm Chahak (che-heck, she/her)! I am a fourth-year Biochemistry major with maybe a Computational Specialization and Stats/DS minor (strongly considering letting go of both). I joined SMACS in freshman year because I enjoy chemistry and love our super approachable and funny crowd. I am interested in an MD-PhD or a PhD (time and my willpower will tell). I study how oxaloacetate might alleviate neuroinflammation in the context of cancer-related cognitive impairment in the Zhen lab (UCLA Health Hem/Onc); and over the summer, I studied how transcription factors regulate the differentiation of cells that set up early-life immunity in the Brown lab (Memorial Sloan Kettering). In my free time, I like talking, dissociating near water bodies while listening to k-pop, and exploring wildlife. I am lonely & friendly, so feel free to talk to me about anything! Hello! My name is Amaar Siddiqui, and I am the Co-President of SMACS! I am a 4th-year transfer student, majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Mathematics. Currently, I'm doing organic chemistry research in the Garg Lab, studying the modes of reactivity of Anti-Bredt Olefins. One of my favorite things about SMACS is having the privilege of showing people what chemistry is and how important it is in our everyday lives. I also enjoy the community we have established in the club, and excited to see it grow. In my free time, I like to swim, cook, and play board games with friends!

Hi I’m Angelina, I’m a third year biochemistry major interested in becoming a physician, particularly dermatology. I’m interested in immunology research and helping patients! My hobbies include making fun drinks, going out to cafes and long walks, drawing, and spending time with friends!

My research interest is Analytical Chemistry. I love SMACS because I think it helps start a lot of chem and biochem majors off on the right foot in the department.

Hi everyone! My name is Ayaan (like ion!), and I’m a 2nd year Bioengineering major in pre-med and/or pre-PhD. I’m also in the Kamei Lab, where I’ve worked on point-of-care tests and immunoassays. Outside of anything related to my major, I love baking, video games, and model kits. Above all I’m super excited to meet new people who share my interests, especially in SMACS!

My name is Jacob Neidleman, and I'm a second year chemistry major. I am in the Fay Group where I am preparing for physical chemistry research (theory and computation) by building a strong foundation in quantum mechanics. My favorite part about SMACS is hearing other members' stories about research and classes. Outside of SMACS, I enjoy spending time in nature, reading, and listening to metal music. 

ㅤMy research interest is mitochondrial metabolism. My favorite part about SMACS is getting to know people I probably would not have met otherwise and exchanging ideas with them. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, drinking fruit tea, and exploring new restaurants.
